Donation Made to Hospice

Marie Wilson poses with a butterfly stained glass piece recently presented to the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and is now hanging in the Great Room at the Hospice Nancy Dowd Home. Mrs. Wilson and her family donated the art panel in memory of her late husband William Wilson who was a Hospice patient.

The piece was purchased at the Biltmore Estate which is a large private estate and tourist attraction in Asheville, North Carolina. Biltmore House, the main house on the estate, is a Châteauesque-styled mansion built by George Washington Vanderbilt II between 1889 and 1895 and is the largest privately owned house in the United States, at 178,926 square feet of floor space. Still owned by one of Vanderbilt’s descendants, it stands today as one of the most prominent remaining examples of the Gilded Age.
