GLOVERSVILLE, NY – At a November 1 dinner held at The Holiday Inn in Johnstown, Mr. David Pilliod was recognized as the recipient of the Gregory R. Hoye Award; an honor that is given each year jointly by Mountain Valley Hospice and the Hoye family. Presented by Anna Marie Hoye, a representative of the Hoye family, the Hoye Award is given to an individual who has demonstrated sensitive and compassionate care to the needs of patients and families dealing with life-limiting illnesses. It is given in memory of Gregory R. Hoye who passed away in 1987.
Pilliod has been the Director of Pastoral Care at St. Mary’s Healthcare for the past 11 years. He is one of the founding members of the palliative care team at SMH and has shown both dedication and expertise in helping those with a life-limiting illness. With a background as both a Roman Catholic Priest and a Social Worker, David has the unique ability to understand both the emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their families.

Other awards presented at the Annual Mountain Valley Hospice Appreciation Dinner included the ‘Excellence Award’ given to Mr. Clayton Sitterly for his commitment and dedication to Mountain Valley Hospice and a recognition of Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams who has served as the Chaplain of Mountain Valley Hospice for 20 years.
