The “Fulton County Committee for Hospice Formation” officially created and meets at First Congregational Church of Christ at 33 E. Fulton Street, Gloversville, NY

First issue of hospice newsletter, “Chrysalis,” is published

Official name is changed to “The Fulton County Committee for the Study of a Hospice Formation Inc.”

Application for construction and establishment of a hospice submitted to the NYS Department of Health (DOH)

DOH accepts the application for Hospice of Fulton County

Official name changed to “Hospice of Fulton County Inc.”

Nancy Dowd elected Executive Director and offices established at 58 North Main Street

First patient accepted into care of Hospice of Fulton County

Hospice of Fulton County moves to 34 West Fulton Street, Gloversville

Permission received from DOH to expand service area to include Montgomery, Hamilton and Saratoga Counties

DOH approves name change to Mountain Valley Hospice (MVH)

Mountain Valley Hospice moves to 73 North Main Street, Gloversville

Discussions begin regarding new hospice residence and office facility

MVH begins a capital campaign to raise funds for hospice residence and office facility

MVH submits “Certificate of Need Application” to DOH for an eight-bed hospice residence

DOH approves application to build eight-bed hospice residence and offices at 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville

New hospice residence and office complex opens

First hospice resident is accepted into the Hospice House

Executive Director Nancy Dowd retires and the hospice house is renamed in her honor as the “Nancy Dowd Hospice Home”

Launch of Palliative Care service line: symptom & medication management in the home for the chronically ill, with the ability to continue aggressive, curative treatment.
