June 1, 2017 – GLOVERSVILLE, NY – Mountain Valley Hospice (MVH) announced they have appointed Kara Ulasewicz Travis as President and CEO.  Travis comes with a wealth of experience and knowledge after more than 10 years as a Senior Director with Bassett Healthcare and a broad involvement in non-profit boards.

MVH Board President Del B. Salmon states: “We are thrilled to have Kara on our team.  Her expertise in operations and logistics combined with her knowledge of Healthcare and people skills are an incredible asset to MVH.”

“I am honored to be joining the MVH team,” Travis states.  “I can think of no more impactful work than serving the staff and volunteers who care for our most vulnerable patients and their families.  I look forward to contributing to the MVH community and enhancing the menu of programs and services available to our neighbors in Fulton, Montgomery, Saratoga, and Hamilton counties.”

Mountain Valley Hospice is confident that the hiring of Travis will allow their organization to better serve its patients and their families through heightened strategic planning, strengthened community involvement and broadened patient care.

Prior to Bassett, Travis served with SUNY Cobleskill, Howe Caverns, Inc. and the Lake Placid/Essex County Visitors Bureau.  She also currently serves as the President of United Way in Delaware and Otsego Counties.  Travis has a Master’s degree from Emerson College Brussels, Belgium and two Bachelor’s degrees from Boston University.  Travis is also certified to serve as an executive coach and was recognized as a ‘Forty under 40’ winner by the Capital District Business Review.

A community based, not-for-profit agency founded in 1988 and located at 108 Steele Avenue in Gloversville; Mountain Valley Hospice seeks to make hospice care available to all appropriate patients and families in Fulton, Hamilton, Montgomery and Saratoga Counties.
